Islas Galápagos, Ecuador, South America

* In this habitat we found a colony of Epizoanthids, pictured in the lower half of the image.  They are recognized by the brick-red color of the tentacles, and the greenish supporting columns.  Similar Epizoanthids also occur in (1), but lack the robust supporting columns.  The colony appears attached near the base of the largest Galápagos Sea Fan (Muricea sp.)  A smaller Sea Fan attached closely to the larger has golden polyps extended, and may be a different species of Muricea.
