* One of the most beautiful of the Caribbean marine sponges is the Deep Water Glassy Sponge (Callyspongia plicifera).  At sufficient depth, these sponges appear  to fluoresce in shades of blue to  near-violet.  In this image, these sponges grow among stands of blue-grey Sea Feathers (Pseudopterogorgia sp.).  Because of the wide range of color and their variable form of these sponges, they are a favorite of the underwater photographer.
