Marine Sponges of Deeper Water - Caribbean Underwater Gallery II

*  This habitat was on an exposed, nearly vertical wall.  Most noticeable was the Orange Cup Sponges (Mycale sp.) and pale bluish Sea Feathers (Pseudopterogorgia sp.).  On the wall are scattered Red Encrusting sponge, purple Calcerous Algae, and other unidentified algae.  We have noted that The Orange Cup Sponge often plays host to the the Black Brittle Star (Ophiothrix sp.), especially at deeper sites (1).
